"In Country"

Dean William Monroe
October 9, 2012
William Monroe, dean of the University of Houston’s Honors College, discusses the thematic and literary qualities of the 1985 novel In Country by Kentucky author Bobbie Ann Mason. Not a typical war novel, full of bullets and blood, heroics and horror, the book looks at the painful long-term physical and psychological injuries that linger on, after the fighting has ended.
William Monroe talks with Eric Ladau.
